Narnia Strikes Back

I had a really good birthday, thank you all for the wishes! I want to say thanks especially to [livejournal.com profile] kispexi2, [livejournal.com profile] katikat and [livejournal.com profile] orvida, for the gifts!

Yesterday I had school, so we (me and sisters) mostly curled up on the couch with drinks, and watched The Count of Monte Cristo. Today though we went off to Katowice (which is not far, but takes an hour by bus) to see Prince Caspian undubbed and ended up failing miserably at the undubbed part. Fortunately, the dubbing didn't suck that bad. It was bad, but watchable, the dubbing, I mean. The movie was fine, I liked what they did with the book too accommodate the movie business, for the most part.

I see the famed Peter/Caspian UST. It was so there. Caspian was of course gorgeous, he alone was worth the admission price. Peter wasn't bad either. I was always a huge fan of Edmund and Lucy, so was very happy with Ed in the movie. He kicked ass, he was smart, he made decisions and he knocked the White Witch out of the picture, once more. Yay for Edmund!

Susan, there was altogether too much of. Battles? Romance? The hell? The whole thing with Caspian, aside from the fact that it was rather forced (*cough* covering up the slash *cough*), I felt, was rather pointless. Ooooh, drama. Cry me a river.

I loved the scene with Lucy at the bridge. Everyone fears a little girl who's standing there like she owns the place, because it usually means she does own the place and you better recognise, or else. I loved Lucy in general, no surprise. I always like Lucy.

What I didn't like was the constant "heeeeey, I've seen this before!", throughout the entire movie. The chasing of Caspian? Fellowship of the Ring and Arwen with Frodo. So was the river towards the end. The siege? The Return of the King and the siege of Minas Tirith. The jumping off a tower onto a griffin? Back to the Future II. Susan in battle? Legolas. Trees also have been seen before. The Stone Table reminded me a lot of the first Harry Potter movie and the Philosopher's Stone chamber.

I can't wait for the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. It's always been my favourite Narnia book. :) As sister pointed out today, it has Prince Caspian (it used to be Edmund and Lucy XD) and a ship. It's bound to be my favourite.
