Ooookay. I'm mad now.

I didn't want to post anything for a couple of days so that people read the ficlet thingy I posted (am shameless), but I just had to vent. If you don't have much time, skip this entry and read the GW ficlet.
I have never been a huge fan of Harry Potter
- I read the books, I wrote some fics, but my heart wasn't really in it. I have a neutral opinion of the HP craze - the books are the same cathegory as, say, Dan Browns. The form is great, there is no content really. You could, and it is a rare thing, read fanfiction deeper than the actual thing (say, Draco Dormiens). I've heard that JK Rowling's lawyers were on a crusade against NC-17 fics (loads of bullshit about them not being 'true fans' - as if they care for anything past their wallets), and now apparently they are against people who collect photos!!
This girl was looking for a photo of Cornelius Fudge, cause she likes the actor who plays him. And the writer's mod replied, and I quote:
"Unless the picture includes VERY CLEAR AND EXACT information with it on who holds the copyright not only to the picture itself, but also that JK Rowling is the owner of the characters and the likness to her characters and the picture is posted only for reference, I WILL insist this NOT be done.
I've already had dealings with Ms. Rowling's lawyers and do NOT want to have more. Photos are copyrighted by the photographer, and possibly other people. Some actors have licensed their likenesses, and any actors in costume from Harry Potter are a licensed likeness owned by JK Rowling."
The world is going downhill. I understand the 'copyrighted by photographer', but the girl isn't going to sell it, for heaven's sake!! An actor licensing their likeness, ha! What the fuck does he want to do, people closing their eyes while walking by a shell rack which contain their image? I'm waiting for fanart/fanfiction being banned from the net. I'm waiting for us being forbidden to think about a book/movie unless we pay for it. Some people really should take example from the Japanese - their copyrighted characters are used by fans in doujishis, which are published legally, and I have never heard of anyone kicking a fuss over it.
Well, quoting my dad: "It's stupid, cause it shows that they just know they will never do anything better."
And Rowling should get her head straight. HP is not the goddam 8th wonder of the world, it's an entertaining, successful and interesting but still middle-class book, maquerading as no-one-knows-what. The Narnia Chronicles are, in my eyes, the best series of books for children I have ever had the pleasure to read, HP doesn't even come close. She has two, count them, two psychologically valuable characters. It's like comparing Matrix and Ghost in the Shell.
Sorry about the rant. >__< Some people... Do try to calm me down though. I hate being so condescending.
edit:I also didn't eat anything but breakfast and random fruit for the past two days. It seems that the theory of women not eating when on their own is correct.
