Supernatural should be renamed as Watch Us Fuck With Dean Winchester, Over And Over And Over Again.
Much as it was hurtful, I loved this episode. Dean, as usual, made my heart break, not only because this episode proves his mothering tendencies have nothing whatsoever to do with the way John raised him and everything to do with who he is. Four year old and already so attuned to a grown-up's feelings? That's painful.
I hated this Heaven. Which is good, very consistent for the SPN verse, as it shows rather well the sorry condition the universe is in, ran by angels who understand jack squat about humans. All the more reason for an overhaul of the system and putting the power in ... different hands. < /inner Dr Horrible>
Again, the whole of Heavenly experience was designed to hurt Dean, which seriously, I *heart* you, Kripke, but throw the boy a bone. Sam's Heaven being the case in point. I refuse to believe, that somewhere along the line they wouldn't have found the same memory Dean started off with, from Sam's perspective. Just look how elated young!Sam was in that scene. This also puts into perspective the inner working of Heaven - with the possible exception of the fireworks moment, there wasn't a memory of true happiness that I could see, even applying Winchester relativity scale. These were more moments that defined them - for Dean assuming the role of a comforter, for Sam asserting his independence. Ash got putting string theory to practical use.
Zachariah is loathsome, particularly with his MILF comments. Eeeek.
On the whole? I am hoping for a His Dark Materials ending. :) The boys have earned it.
Public service announcement: I shall be away until next Sunday, by which I mean I might check email now and then. Let's hope this doesn't encourage the damn bunnies to multiply, already have too many. XD
