The occasional meme.
Comment with a pairing and I'll tell you:
1. When I started shipping them
2. What I think their challenge is
3. What makes me happy about them
4. What makes me sad about them
5. What moment I wish had never happened
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
7. My happily ever after for them
(If you comment with one I don't ship, or one about which I am agnostic, I'll tell you something about the whys and wherefores of my opinions.)

According to some book I read, people are made of four elements: hot, cold, dry and wet. The person in the book chose tea for hot, coins for cold, socks for dry and tears for wet. I want you to name a character and I will tell you what four things THEY would chose. Then, post this meme to your journal and see what characters people ask YOU about!
I'd pick sun for hot, ice-cream for cold, bed for dry and sea for wet. :)
Sigh. If someone could please explain what in the blue fuck can be said about otherness other than "well, it is alien and other" I will be very grateful. :( The seminar kills me with boring.

As soon as I was introduced to Saiyuki, though my first impression was like the one I had of Shuichi and Yuki from Gravitation - bear in mind that I started with the anime. The "where are you taking me? A restaurant?" was cute and clearly a daily occurrence, so clearly it was an OTP. XD But I really fell in love when the later parts of the manga arrived.
2. What I think their challenge is
Sanzo. XD I am a little tinhatty where Goku is concerned, but I do think that the biggest obstacle to their future is Sanzo and his issues. Now, Goku has his share, his issues are numerous and many, but he is a/ handling the baggage well, b/ growing out of plenty of the issues. Sanzo hoards his and waits for the Apocalypse to roll in to start dealing.
3. What makes me happy about them
The tinhat. Not my tinhat though, but Sanzo's. He only has eyes for Goku, and the rest of the world can go fuck itself and die in a fiery pit, as far as he is concerned. <3 He has that in common with Dean Winchester. XD
4. What makes me sad about them
The idea that Goku might be immortal. I don't think he is, but even so. It would be tragic.
5. What moment I wish had never happened
Reload/Gunlock anime. Dear god, the anime.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
Well, as Sanzo wears a tinhat, I think he's got better chances of winding up as the crazy cat lady. Goku would be happy with
Pippiany decent humanoid being. :D Slightly wistful, perhaps, but happy.7. My happily ever after for them
Goku dies and Sanzo blows up the world, which later reforms and the four of them take a spin on the karmic carousel. ^_____^

I only watched the first half of the anime, never read the manga. I liked it, though not enough to go looking for more.
