As soon as I was introduced to Saiyuki, though my first impression was like the one I had of Shuichi and Yuki from Gravitation - bear in mind that I started with the anime. The "where are you taking me? A restaurant?" was cute and clearly a daily occurrence, so clearly it was an OTP. XD But I really fell in love when the later parts of the manga arrived.
2. What I think their challenge is
Sanzo. XD I am a little tinhatty where Goku is concerned, but I do think that the biggest obstacle to their future is Sanzo and his issues. Now, Goku has his share, his issues are numerous and many, but he is a/ handling the baggage well, b/ growing out of plenty of the issues. Sanzo hoards his and waits for the Apocalypse to roll in to start dealing.
3. What makes me happy about them
The tinhat. Not my tinhat though, but Sanzo's. He only has eyes for Goku, and the rest of the world can go fuck itself and die in a fiery pit, as far as he is concerned. <3 He has that in common with Dean Winchester. XD
4. What makes me sad about them
The idea that Goku might be immortal. I don't think he is, but even so. It would be tragic.
5. What moment I wish had never happened
Reload/Gunlock anime. Dear god, the anime.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
Well, as Sanzo wears a tinhat, I think he's got better chances of winding up as the crazy cat lady. Goku would be happy with
Pippiany decent humanoid being. :D Slightly wistful, perhaps, but happy.7. My happily ever after for them
Goku dies and Sanzo blows up the world, which later reforms and the four of them take a spin on the karmic carousel. ^_____^

I only watched the first half of the anime, never read the manga. I liked it, though not enough to go looking for more.

Before I even watched Gundam Wing. ^_____^ They were just there!
2. What I think their challenge is
Their mutual issues with commitment, abandonment and trust. They are both a psychiatrist's wet dream, so as long as they manage to find a healthy balance between their neuroses, all will be well.
3. What makes me happy about them
They are complimentary, and their neuroses overlap in areas that they need to work out together rather than separately if they want to be together. Fics crackle and pop!
4. What makes me sad about them
No matter how stoic/clown-like the front the put up, they are both insanely damaged. Also, PTSD is not just a string of letters.
5. What moment I wish had never happened
I don't think there is one.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
For Heero, Relena. Provided she grows up as well as Endless Waltz indicated she would, they would be happy together. For Duo, I have always been secretly fond of Duo/Wufei.
7. My happily ever after for them
They would move in together, join the Preventers together, and pretty much limp through life as best as two traumatised soldiers can. Which, given their respective talents, would be pretty well indeed.

Both of them are the poster children for mindfuckery, no matter how well they hide that part.

Hmmm. So, given their interaction in the movie, I'd say Rude/Reno is a given - the two of them make a spectacular team, kick butt together, get butts kicked together, step on each other's glasses, so on, so forth. Rude is clearly a romantic; he would bring fireworks to their dates, because Reno likes to watch things blow up. They have a good chance of making it, unless Shinra has rules about domestic partners working together.
Cloud and Sephiroth is a clusterfuck. Sephiroth has an unhealthy fascination, and who could blame him, when this random kid with a psyche the strength of a newborn kitten managed to kick his ass into the green three times. Cloud, on his part, is both terrified and flattered, what with the constant attempts on Sephiroth's part to grab his ass and find new and exciting ways of penetration. Little chance of anything in the same galaxy as happy ever after, but the relationship will be long and many a building will be hacked to pieces in the process.
Cloud and Zack are, next to Reno and Rude, probably the most stable couples. When Cloud emos, Zack sneaks a snake into his lunchbox. When he mopes, Zack blows up the gym. When he has an allergy, Zack has a field of roses delivered to his room, just so he has an excuse to grope Cloud on the way to medical. If it wasn't for the pesky problem of Zack being dead, they would be very happy together. Until Sephiroth flipped, that is.

Short answer: Castiel walked in in episode 4.01. That was just about enough. XD
2. What I think their challenge is
Aside from massive issues they both have, like Castiel being an angel (though apparently that's no longer a big issue) and Dean human, you mean? Heh. I would have to say it's Sam. Dean has a very simple, hierarchical brain, and the hierarchy goes #1 Sam, #2 saving people #3 hunting things #4 everything else. So, Castiel would have to deal with being in a very triangular relationship.
3. What makes me happy about them
C'mon, Dean is enough on his own, but there's also an angel and a human! How much more happy do I need?
4. What makes me sad about them
This is Supernatural, so there is pain and suffering coming their way.
5. What moment I wish had never happened
The Jimmy episode. It sucked for many reasons, only one of them being that I like my version of events better. Also, I don't like the whole vessel business.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
Sam and Dean are going to be together anyway, so them. Castiel is probably going to pine away on his own, poor dear.
7. My happily ever after for them
They'd take over an abandoned farmhouse, hunt occasionally, raise some orphans, probably, because Dean loves kids. :)
