For once I approve of the government
May. 2nd, 2011 07:39 pmBecause our current prime minister is the only person whose comment on Bin Laden's death (that was publicised) I could agree with*, so no matter what else, thank you, Mr Tusk.
All day today the TV was making me sick. The spectacle? The dancing on the streets? Un-fucking-cool, and for people who are supposedly predominantly Christian. Christ would be facepalming, hard. It's hideous and it's barbaric.
Plus, what exactly did it accomplish? The murder (murdering a monster is still murder) made Osama a martyr, it gave a hundred little boys motivation to follow in his footsteps, and what, this is a great victory? How is that making us all safer? How the hell does it help anyone?
edit:
* having looked for the full comment, I can't say agree with all of it, but he was the only one who said we shouldn't celebrate, because the death of a human being should never be a cause for celebration. He also said we are all relieved, which might be somewhat true, if we're supposed to be relieved that it only took ten years for him to be found, nevermind the political consequences.
I disagree with his view on "justice triumphing".
