First of all: I have this fic finished, so you don't need to worry that it will be abandoned. I have written the whole thing nearly half a year ago, and it needs some editing, so I can't just dump it all at once. The 54k is an old estimate - when I started editing I ended up adding quite a bit of text (AO3 tells me it's 35k now, and I post everywhere at the same time, so...). :) I do post on AO3, under the same nickname.
Unfortunately, partly because of the Reverse Bang (but also due to RL things), I had to put the editing on the back-burner. I'll get back to it as soon as I can.
Thank you very much! I generally feel that in an AU Charles can be either very good at reading people (as an alternative to telepathy) or very bad (which I think Charles is, only he has telepathy). That, and I'm a fan of Mentalist and Sherlock, so... Happy reading! :>
