this time there be zombies )

My throat aches. Bummer. :( Might have something to do with the two days spent lugging through a knee-deep snow. Yes, I am slightly insane, going against my deep-seated fear of doing anything remotely resembling physical exertion. XD

I am starting to hate holidays. I'm not leaving for the summer camp until the beginning of August, and I neglected to organise anything for self in the meantime, so I'm stuck at home. Well not really, but right now I'm too lazy to bother. XD

I am reading instead, have managed to finish Nation (PTerry, as usual, is amazing), Day Watch (I love the books for the concept and the heartache, but the first person pov drives me nuts! Especially the first part. GAH. Bonus points for tying the 'verse to Christian mythology, I'm a sucker for that!) and am now reading Princess Bride. :)

Plus, there's the painting. :) It's not going fast or anything, sadly. :( Soon after the previous post I had a tiny accident and ended up with a pebble imbedded in my skull.* Fun times, let me tell you. I'm perfectly fine, no worries there, just, you know. An excuse to be a lazy bum. XD I managed to finish my second [livejournal.com profile] 7thnight_smut assignment, so yay me! <3

edit: * um, I just realised how it might sound. Not in my skull, obviously, but my forehead. I fell off a bicycle. XD

Okay! Painting time. ^____^ This is the summer, time is plentiful, so as I mentioned I am painting. And since I've plenty of time to spare (painting is best done in natural light, so considering my schedule I have several+ hours to spare) I will document the process.

painting process, post 1 )

Aaaand it is 8 pm, so not much daylight left, so I clean the brush (v. important - acrylics are only soluble in water once. :)

I really had fun with traditional painting. Huh. I should maybe use up some of my vacation to do some more. :) Maybe a complimentary picture in cool tones?

The painting! )

Acrylics on canvas (12"x16"). I have no idea how long it took me total - I made the first doodle in class, on the margin on my notebook, and then over the course of three days it was painted. :)

Watching.

Thank you everyone for the wishes and the gifts! I had a really nice birthday, with happycake and foodie and everything. ^_______^

Corsets have been following me awhile ) With this piece I tried to focus on not making her look as plastic as may usual attempts at realism, hence the slightly masculine features. :) Larger version available on smokescapes. I might also post a detail shot later.

I'm enamoured with realistic art, yes I know. XD

So I mentioned I spent half my time dreaming up pictures. This is one of them. Partly because I have been reading Avalon recently, which is a vague inspiration, and also the quote in Angel, "Do you know what she is to me? My daughter." This was the episode with the pregnant lady and the judgement, methinks this was the first episode of season one.

The most Christmasy one )

Also, I started watching Merlin and I am noticing the appeal. It is adorable crack and joy to behold. Also I started watching Heroes and that mostly makes me roll my eyes. Wacky coincidences abound and it's all kinds of crazy.

Oh! [livejournal.com profile] yami_tai, I got your card just today, thank you! This is due to our lousy mail-checking skills, for which I apologise.

Warning: ... none actually )

Watched Bones season 4 and either it got old, or something is off. It might be the lack of Zack, since he and Hodgins were my favourite characters. *sigh* Still, the episode with dogs was okay, so maybe there is still hope.

Cinderella III is pretty good, if you're depressed and up for some crack. It starts sometime after the wedding, and one of the sisters steals the magic wand, which the stepmother then uses to turn back time and enlarge the slipper at the crucial point. The rest of the movie is the mice and birds and Cinderella and the Prince trying to figure out what went wrong. Oddly enough, it actually makes sense, at some points. Except for the beginning, of course, and the reason for the whole mess - I mean honestly, what was the fairy godmother even doing there? Hello? The prince had his worldview turned into smush, when bluebirds and mice started giving him intel, though it must be awfully useful, when he gets around to being king and ruling the country.

Never mind that the story screws up everything Cinderella ever was. It was hilarious, the good kind of hilarious - the kind that you just know was intentional. I was wheezing so hard! The animation was decent, too.

Photoshop, behave! )

*excited*

[livejournal.com profile] clarediva asked for realistic sketches for her book a while back, so I did one. And then it turned out she liked it and wants me to finish it. And now it turns out the book is getting published, with my cover! :) That's on a wholly another level of surreal for me.

The book is available here.

Painting with Photoshop is a very addictive thing. And also very annoying. XD Especially since I'm still quite undecided as to whether I prefer to do realistic or anime art. *sigh*

Sparkly this way )
