It's snowing! First snow of winter, yay! Well, not perhaps so much snow as a little slush that looks whiteish on cars and lawns, but it counts, cause I've seen it fall! ^_____^

In other news, a bus apparently toppled over in Breslau, where I study these days. No one was hurt, and I don't travel by bus much, so I'm not worried.

NaNo:

40,735 / 50,000 - 81% done!

I've sort of hit the wall. I typed the ending and there are still bits and pieces missing, but I'm struggling to fill them. Two important spaces that need to be connected and nary a clue... And 8 days left. Still, on the plus side, only 10k to go!

Just when you thought they couldn't make Castiel more adorable, they give him doubts, a kicked ass and jealousy of Dean!kissage. <3 Misha Collins deserves a prize for the look on his face when Allistair was straddling him. All wide-eyed and terrified and stoned. And of course Dean to the rescue. I love how Castiel stares at Dean, he looks so out of it as he does, like the rest of the world doesn't matter and he can only focus on Dean properly. Methinks the whole getting his butt kicked by Allistair has something to do with the looks and regrets and everything. In conclusion - Castiel will join the ranks of the fallen.

A slice of angel food cake for Dean! Okay, squee aside, they are driving the binaries between him and Sam and I for one do not like it, because binaries are by definition there to oppose one another. Still, Dean having another angel measure to the handprint? Made of winsome win. XD Coupled with Castiel's looks...

Angels are dicks. They know Dean would damn the world to save Sammy and they're not afraid to use it, assholes. At the same time, "it's his weakness. He likes you" speaks for itself. Uriel, despite being a dick, is growing on me.

Dean's confession was beyond great. Jensen Ackles is amazing, putting so much on the screen in the few minutes, with so few vague words. You can see Dean holding his heart together with broken pieces of duct tape, knowing that it's not enough, but that there is nothing more he can do. You have to hurt for him. He will be beating himself over the head with it for the rest of his life, because that's who he is. If there's no air in space, it's because he didn't work on it hard enough.

[livejournal.com profile] seraphim_grace suggested that while yes, anyone would break in hell, the fact that after thirty years Dean just flipped a switch is unlikely, so it makes more sense that it was a form of torture, making him believe he is hurting people. Especially since we see him so broken up about it now. I know, hindsight and all, but I find it very, very hard to believe he is capable of torturing people. Demons, perhaps. Souls, not so much. Also, Allistair had the air of "ah, this one is not properly broken in yet" about him in the previous episode. Two things: a/ Anna tells him it isn't his fault, and b/ he says he lost count of how many souls. Wouldn't it fuck him up more if there was only one? Someone he could grow to know? Maybe that's the thing, it's all been a setup and they kept showing him different ones, so that he cannot tell it's not real. Also: "like magic" - in hell nothing is like it seems. I'm whining about it, because you know Dean is fucked up enough and doesn't need more baggage.

I really want to know what Ruby's deal is. No, seriously. I like her presence there, I like how she helps, but I want to know what's in it for her. She's still a demon, and therefore wants something for herself out of this mess.

Finally - Dean empathises with angels. XD

She's a demon. There must be a shiny price in it for her and I hope it's not Lilith's head on a stick.

Yes, quite. And let us not forget that she did not meet Sam by chance. She sought him out, very deliberately, and had researched him thoroughly beforehand. She has always had plans for him, and those plans stretch back to a time before Lilith claimed supremity among the demons. I just would really like some clarity, because it's been a long time now and no pay off. How 'bout a Ruby POV episode! It's the only way to get some insight into how she thinks, given that she doesn't have any confidantes.

Dean is nowhere near crazy enough

Exactly. It's really disappointing, because I had such high expectations for this storyline. I mean, the first 6/7 episodes of the season were great. Vague flashbacks were great, and I could completely accept that he had no conscious memories of his torture whatsoever - it meant that they could start the season running, instead of being bogged down with PTSD at the start. But to suddenly switch from that to complete recall, without that having any impact on his behaviour at all? It just isn't plausible and it isn't Dean - we've had plenty of evidence of how he reacts to stress and trauma!

JA plays the hell out of the emotional scenes when he is given them. It isn't his fault - it's the writing and direction that is at fault and leaves me feeling cheated. And that disappointment and detachment makes it hard for me to do my usual meta-writing, which is frustrating.

Bah. I want to write about this episode. I want to finish the recap for last week! But it is very slow going because I'm all bogged down with frustration, and don't want to be all ranty again.
