Feb. 23rd, 2010 01:11 amReally, evolution does need to get going and rid us of our teeth, because I'm fed up with having an insane maniac with a drill having a go at my mandibles every half a year. The mad glint in her eye inevitably rids me of sleep for a month, and I shudder in the middle of the night at the thought that the appointment is imminent.

So, I have this tooth. Twelve years ago the cavities in it were so bad, it got treated with ZnO, and apparently it's now so week it's barely worth filling. I'm deathly afraid of root canals, and not just the black hole they deposit in a bank account. Good news: the root canal is postponed. Bad news: it is still inevitable.
Sulk.
In other news, I got my reading butt in gear: over the past week (yeah, the lack of internet had a thing or two to do with it, but I was being distracted by the family) I read Christine, Twilight Watch and the new Dan "Here, Allow Me To Mount This Anvil Over Your Head" Brown. The first was fantastic, as befitting Stephen King, the second ... well, I did love most of it, though the execution had this grating feel to it. The third, well. On one hand, it's good to see he got his head out of his butt and decided to join us in the real world. On the other, the roller-coaster scheme suffered for it. Dude. Go back to your happy place!

Date: 2010-02-23 10:00 pm (UTC)Well, I convinced mine I am willing to risk another filling (in a tooth that's more filling than tooth) to postpone the root canal. :( My mouth just aches thinking about it, and now they tell me the root canal is done under a microscope, and I wonder, WTF and how will they stick it into my mouth? o.O

Date: 2010-02-25 04:26 am (UTC)On a lighter note, of all the Dan Brown's books, I've only read Angels and Demons so far, partly because I was curious to know more about The Hassassin. (And for the first time ever, I preferred the film to the book! It seems Dan Brown is that powerful XD)
So I'm still hesitant to buy his last one, although I'd like to see the film adaptation.

Date: 2010-02-25 03:59 pm (UTC)I preferred DaVinci Code over A&D books, though my personal hierarchy of his accomplishments goes
1. Angels and Demons movie (aside from the fact that it was a decent thriller with few illusions about itself, it had Hakkai in it, and the music was fantastic)
2. DaVinci Code book
3. DaVinci Code movie
4. Angels and Demons book
5. everything else
His latest is too outrageous to be taken seriously and not outrageous enough to thrill. XD
