My recent hobby - reading webcomics. Thought I might share. Be warned though - some of them are pretty long and addictive.
1. Friendly Hostility - [shounen ai] How much trouble can you get into when you put together an indian boy whose uncle is a satanist, mother an aspiring romance writer and father an inventor with a weak spot for toasters, with an asexual (with an exception for the aforementioned Fox), disgusted with humanity son of a preacher, whose dream is to take over a small country? Art takes some getting used to, but the whole thing is interesting enough to keep your attention for long. It is a side story to 'Boy Meets Boy' but I like this one better. :P
2. General Protection Fault - it starts off as an ordinary Dilbert-styled office comic strip, but soon enough turns into a weird mix of secret agents, evolved slime molds and evil dictators bent on taking over the world. *thumbs up* Weirdness level very high, but the characters are interesting and well-developed (like, the wanna be tyrant and her run in with a devoted Catholic doctor).
3. Kevin and Kell - probably the longest strip on the web, going on its 10th anniversary this year (over 2500 strips). Literature students will get a kick of it, I'm sure. I know I do. A story of an unconventional family in an alternate universe, which manages to hold together despite the odds and the pressures of families on both sides. Plus, the art is very good thorough the series.
4. Wapsi Square - well worth getting through the first few months. Art gets better quick and the entertainment is guaranteed. Meet Monica - a fairly ordinary museum worker whose main problems come down to: chest big enough for someone a foot taller; lack of boyfriend; Aztec god of alcohol and all his presence entails.
5. Girly - [shoujo ai] weirdness factor maximised. I like the art style and the artist's use of computer shading. If you can handle total randomness (elephants included) and weird humour, this is something you should try.
6. Last but not least - Alice!. Something I'm sure most fangirls would read nodding their heads and laughing as they go. In short - Alice is the modern version of Ann Shirley, the one who wrecked havoc on Green Gables. Very cute, aesthetic art and the WAFF factor in abundance. Me lurves.
Not a webcomic, but still worth recommendation: an online original shounen ai manga Your Wings Are Mine. 1x2 fangirls will love this one - main heroes are exactly *that* type. Both with traumatic past experiences, one silent brooding and anti-social, the other cheerful and friendly.
There's of course Lara Yokoshima, and all of her work. She is probably the best artist available on the web. Some of her stuff is hardcore yaoi, so beware.
And for a moment of amusement - if you are familiar with 'Slayers' - a production of Hamlet.
