I'm facing reading week, which must be one of the most boring inventions known to mankind. Or studentkind, as it were.

Package did not arrive. Customsboys apparently are checking it for terrorist plans byte by byte. Good luck, you bastards!

*yawns* I seem to be living in a different time zone than the one I'm actually inhabiting. It's 2:45 am and I feel like it was 10 pm. My fault probably, but still.




I wanted to draw something for Kat, who was an absolute sweetheart and lent me Firefly DVDs once I swallowed the bait that was Serenity. I sat down with a piece of paper one late night, and started sketching and, no surprise there, I did River. Mentally unstable + kickass = love, in my book. Then I thought, my sketches are so messy, I might clean it up some. And colour some. Add a couple dozen hours, stir. x.X I'm very pleased with it. It made me realise I need that anatomy book more than I thought I did.

I realise she doesn't exactly resemble Summer Glau much, but hey. Close enough. I cheated with the gun too, since I'm hopeless at objects. Used the Serenity poster as general reference.

there's no real rush because i want it for myself and my own titillation, snicker.
and because of that i'm just as happy with a quick pencil sketch as a full on cg mastrepiece.
So add me to the queue and when you have time i can send you all the info you need.

ps, do you want what exists of the new GW epic I've been working on for OTP and then dropped out of, but still have the vast majority of it done?

A sketch is no problem at all - so if you want a sketch, or would be happier waiting with a sketch, send me the info whenever you like. Though sadly I can't give you a time frame right now.

these are the two main descriptions

Vincent Beausant looked better at seven am than any man really had the right to look. He was tall and wiry rather than thin, with muddy brown hair that was streaked blonde at the front, he wore a pair of broken in blue jeans and white tee shirt with a dark green sweater vest. A tattoo of a rosy cross was on one bicep and curled down his arm around his ankle and up under the tee shirt sleeve. There was a loose belt around his hips, more for fashion than to hold his pants up. There was a brown suede jacket across one arm. As always he looked like he had just stepped out of the pages of a glossy men’s magazine.

Vincent had just stepped out of the shower and had a towel around his waist, and another wrapped sheik like about his head. The tattoo on his arm of the rosy cross actually continued up along his shoulder, over his back and then up his neck so that it was hidden by the collar he always wore.
In the small of his back, almost hidden by his towel was a pair of wings and between them a strange glyph that looked like a sword with two spars around a central sphere.

Right you are. *sketches like mad* But I'm thinking, you mean the tattoo coils around his arm down to his wrist, not ankle. Just a thought. ;P

Absolutely love the picture! I love me some Firefly too. You have amazing talent (I'm sure I've mentioned that before... ^_^)

Did have one question though... Is the Katana supposed to be facing that way? Shouldn't it curve outward instead of in? Am I being nitpicky? I was just wondering why you drew it that way.

This is by no means a criticism. I was just wondering is all. Also, I recognized it as River right off the bat. So... you really don't have a problem there.

I never noticed that! I drew it this way, because the katana was a bit of an afterthought (it was a gun at first, but I hate drawing guns and wanted something sharp and shiny) and her hand was already positioned like this so I just went with the flow. x.X Maybe she pulled it out of somebody's sheath at an awkward angle? Cause if I'm correct, this positioning could happen, if she was pulling it out over her shoulder. LOL, watch me attach a theory to a mistake. .____.

I'm happy with criticism, for future reference. *beams*
